GEELONG seem to have produced yet another productive youngster in big bodied midfielder George Horlin-Smith who has been awarded Round 4′s AFL NAB Rising Star nomination.
Horlin-Smith was everywhere in Geelong’s clash with the Swans amassing 23 disposals and a goal. Perhaps even more impressive were his seven clearances and four inside 50′s.
Horlin-Smith was sent to tag Swans clearance king Josh Kennedy and not only removed his influence on the game, but shined in a tough and tight encounter.
Horlin-Smith is used to playing in a winning side, playing a key role in last year’s Geelong VFL premiership winning side. A strong preseason and the cooperation of fellow midfielders Jimmy Bartel, Joel Selwood and Joel Corey have set the youngster on solid ground.
It looks like Geelong have yet another gem.
