Clik here to view. The MRP had quite a busy sitting today, here is a look at their rulings.
Richmond livewire Steve Morris has been offered a one match suspension with an early plea after Saturday’s match against Collingwood at the MCG. Morris engaged in rough conduct to the head of Collingwood small forward Jamie Elliot when laying a Shepard on the wing during the second quarter. Originally, Morris could receive 225 demerit points as a two match sanction, but due to lack of any record he can accept one match and 168.75 demerit points with an early guilty plea.
Essendon players Tom Bellchambers, Jake Carlisle and Michael Hibberd can accept an early plea and fine of $2100 for engaging in a melee in Saturday night’s clash with St Kilda. As this is their second melee offence the usual fine is $2800 but can be reduced with an early plea.
St Kilda players Nathan Wright, Tom Simpkin, Jarryn Geary and Ahmed Saad can accept fines of $1200 for engaging in the halftime melee mentioned above. An early plea lowers the sanction of a first time melee offence from $1800 to $1200.
Controversial St Kilda small forward Stephen Milne can accept a fine of $3000 for a third time melee offence for his actions in the halftime incident mentioned above. A third time melee offence comes with a hefty $4000 price tag but an early plea reduces the fine by 25%. To cap off Milne’s wallet hurt, the MRP also dished him with one match and 168.75 demerit points for unnecessary contact to the face of Essendon half-back Courtenay Dempsey. The incident occurred during the fourth quarter of the incident filled match between St.Kilda and Essendon. An early plea will reduce the two match, 225 suspension due to Milne’s previous lack of record.
Melbourne youngster Neville Jetta can accept a two match, 234.38 sanction for engaging in rough conduct on no.1 overall pick Lachie Whitfield during Sundays win at the MCG. Due to Jetta’s poor record (including a carry over of 87.50 and one match suspension) he can accept this suspension with an early plea.
Adelaide midfielder Scott Thompson an accept a reprimand and 70.31 demerit points for engaging in rough conduct on Western Bulldogs defender Brett Goodes during the third quarter of the clash at AAMI Stadium on Sunday. The offence originally constitutes one week and
125 demerit points, but due to Thompson’s six year good record, the sanction is reduced upon an early guilty plea.
Brisbane utility Jack Redden can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points for negligent front on contact with North Melbourne midfielder Ben Cunnington during the third quarter of the two teams clash at Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The original offence was sanctioned as one match, 125 demerit points but due to lack of record, Redden’s sanction was reduced.
Brisbane Utility Pearce Hanley must accept one match and 168.06 demerit points for striking North Melbourne small forward Lindsay Thomas in the third quarter clash at Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Pearce’s poor record over the last year made a case for no reduction of weeks upon an early plea. He will miss Brisbane’s clash with Melbourne next week.
Other incidents assessed that didn’t constitute a report include North Melbourne’s Drew Petrie (charging), St Kilda’s Ahmed Saad (rough contact) and West Coast Eagle Eric Mackenzie (rough contact).
